The janitorial industry has long been viewed as being fractured,  with no standards and highly varied training regimes that led to varying degrees of success.
The International Sanitary and Supply Association (ISSA), is providing an answer to these concerns.  The ISSA has instituted the CIMS program (Cleaning Industry Management Standards), and the CITS programs (Cleaning Industry Training Standards).
CIMS provides detailed , sector relevant procedures and operational standards that lead to a professional , quality cleaning organization.  CITS dovetails with the CIMS program in providing training standards starting from a basic understanding of the "Value of Clean" through advanced operational and management techniques that provide a clean and healthy workplace.
You , the client , can have no better indicator of a professional company than certification under CIMS (or the progression in the program) and the adoption of the CITS program as their training methodology.  Look for it.
